no more daily 2 hours traveling for 6 weeks..yay!

this current block is really full-on though..
8am-6pm on most days..
but apparently the teaching is really good,
hopefully i'll get to learn lots..

barely have time for myself sigh..
so pre-occupied with studies, friends and church..
but all is good..at least i feel life is meaningful *comfort selfs* haha.

At last, we are approaching the final week of AMS.
YES, very happy! wahahahahhahaha :)
Although there still bit and pieces of my AMS report that needs touching up, i am really glad i'm done with the main bulk. :)

Looking back, although there were countless time i whined and sighed over AMS, i actually had a really good experience at RCH. And truly, i am gonna miss everyone in the Surgical Research unit, especially my ever understanding and helpful supervisor and the rest of the AMS buddies (wanchen, beej, andy, jen). and Andre too, who's ever ready to lend a ear to my endless complains..haha.. you guys turned boring research into fun!

On a side note, yiman and i went all the way to richmond for lunch yesterday, mainly cos i was craving for vietnamese noodles. :p I actually forgot that i wasn't on monthly ticket anymore, so i ended up boarding the 109 tram to port melb only mins before my 2 hour ticket would expired. Was rather pleased with myself then cos tat means i wouldn't need to validate a new ticket. But then, when the tram was approaching swanston st, it ramped into a policecar! The back of the car was rather badly dented and some parts of the tram got ripped off as well. All passengers were forced to depart the tram and the whole tram line through collins st. was blocked off, meaning I HAVE TO WALK ALL THE WAY TO BOURKE ST. to board the 96 tram, and cos it's already past the hour, I HAVE TO VALIDATE A NEW TICKET! Already very bengang at that point. To top it off, my bladder was bursting! Okays, stop laughing pls, very sanfu okay! Seriously, 'suay' betul ^&%%$@#^^*&&W@@%#.

To add salt to my wound, i realised i actually didn't need any tickets for the day at all, cos my sis was at home, and i could have actually just borrowed her monthly ticket. I AM SO STUPID!!! wasted A$2.80, add in a few more cents can buy my green tea ice cream at crowns di! argh super annoyed with myself!

Oh well, i think i'm aging. Keep forgetting where things are. And it seems harder to shed off the extra fat too. Sigh. okays i shall stop here before khai li or su min or whoever starts screaming, 'i dun see anything extra! *slaps*' hehe :p

Mel is turning 22 today! huhu..same age as me..finally! :p

We had dinner last night at King's buffet, crown. Despite the food being..erm..very normal-like, I had the convenience of walking 5 mins to the place..which is good. :)

Didn't took any pics of the food..cos yes, being all gals (bs ur considered a gal too btw :p), we were too busy yacking away..hehe :)

And then we headed for a drink at a very nice place at federation square (oops dun remember the name).. Li chia and i shared this cocktail 'Booty call' (yes i know what you are thinking :p), which turned out tasting like cough mixture :( haha..
and bs was funny..he actually pronounced the drink as 'Boot call' instead of booty when ordering it for us..haha :p
However, the mojito and the drink bs had, Dr Green Thumb were good :)
I shall be back to drink those one day :)

It was a great night..
had lots of fun catching up with good friends i haven't met for a while..
and so i'm happy..haha..despite being annoyingly busy wif AMS..argh!

All is good and i am blessed! :)

my weight issue

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR PPL! :)

It is not always a good thing to lose weight, especially when you are already small-sized and considerably thin (yea that's me i know).

I always lose weight whenever i go back to malaysia for the summer. Don't ask me why, i just do. And i eat 24/7 back home, i seriously do. :)

But then I always gain a few kgs in melbourne..so there's always a balance.

But last summer i loss way too much weight.....and hence my clothes are now loose on me and i freaking feel my pants would fall off...and what's worse, there's this shop in malaysia selling really pretty and cheap clothes but i can't buy anything..cos even their S is too big for me.. :(

It is not at all good when u realised u now kinda look like a stick in the mirror..believe me.. I totally prefer to be fit and curvy..yes curvy :p

Okie, now u all can come slap me! :p
and pls feed me with all the cny goodies that i miss! :)

food talk

this is what khai li & i did last thursday.. :)

the story:

i had the afternoon off :) :)
so khai li decided to visit RCH and my workplace..
and bcos she had tut till 2:15pm..
it was around 2:30pm when she finally arrived at RCH..
and i was feeling hungry by then already.. :p

then we spent quite a while.. probably half an hour or so (as always) deciding on where to go for lunch.. we wanted to go to this malaysian food place in flemington, 'Laksa King'..
but after checking for its location online, we decided it's too far away for us to walk all the way there (as always)..
the time then was 3:00pm..
and we were getting very hungry..

so lygon st was kinda the only option left..
well, being near and everything...
so we headed there..and note: at this point we still haven't decided what and where to eat!
hahahha *bleh*

"Should we have chinese, thai or italian?"
"Up to you."
"Or maybe vietnamese."
"I kinda feel like italian."
"Okay"

my tummy was making horrible rumbling sounds at this point and i felt hypoglycaemic..

so we ended up eating pasta n pizza at one of the italian places on lygon..
couldn't remember to name..too many italian places there..hehehhhe
and we were too busy gobbling down the food, hence i forgot to take pics.. (as always) :p

and then.. *ahem*
we felt like desert..
and we went to brunetti!
omg... the cakes all look soooooooooooooooo yummyyyyyyyyyyyyy *drools and start day-dremaing*

khai li wanted to have a rum ball..so we got one..
i wanted cheesecake..
and while i was deciding on the cake,
we saw this LOW FAT cheesecake...
i looked at khai li, she looked back at me..
and well..hahahha..understood..we are not going for that..
cos as always, the normal freaking fattening ones look better and taste better..

the cheesecake is really good..
cos it's so so cheesy :)
but i think i need to run on the treadmill for 1 hour
to lose the calories i've eaten..hahha
hahha

oops..i've been rambling bout the food part..and i forgot the talk part.. :p
well, basically the whole journey we have been talking about boys, couples and 'bak gua'..
it was so exciting, our eyes keep lighting up..hohoho.. u get it don't u? :p

confocal microscopy is a pain.. argh!

before i start @$#$^&%**%^**^, i think i should briefly describe my project so that my complains will make sense..hahahaha :p

my project basically involves quantifying nerve fibres subtypes to establish the normal nerve fibre distribution in children and also the changes that occur in certain gut pathology..

So this is what i do:

1. my supervisor collects colonic biopsies from the children

2. his lab assistants will preserve and cut the biopsies into sections for me

3. i'll perform immunohistochemistry on the sections, which basically is staining the different nerve fibres subtypes with antibodies against them and then putting on a secondary antibody labeled with fluorescence. This allows me to identify the nerve fibres so that i can quantify them.

4. i'll then need to perform confocal microscopy, that is i use this high technology high maintainence (bleh) microscope with camera to take pictures of the labeled sections.

5. and then, using a particular software, i'll count the nerve fibres present in each sections and analyse them in someway..

and the question is: why am i getting square eyes??
bcos of all the freaking blardy confocal-ing i need to do *screamssssssssssssssssssssss*

just for ONE biopsy tissue from ONE patient, i need to confocal for an average of 2-3 hours..
and i've got a total of about 50 patients to work on..
u get the picture now don't u?

my best record so far: 5 hours straight of confocal-ing..
i tell u, my eyes are seriously changing shape..
and i'm so freaking worried i become short-sighted at the end of AMS
(yes i'm the lucky one right now with perfect eyesights :) :) :)

post-confocal syndrome: headache and seeing everything in red and green :(

the blues

and i thought i would live happily ever after, in a fairytale-like way..
just when i thought everything is perfect and fine, disappointment came crashing down on me and my heart sank so deeply it felt like i was experiencing gravity once again on 'the giant drop'. :(

they say, the best things come when least expected..
i say, the worst things come when least expected -_-
well, maybe i kinda knew it was coming..but i pretended it wasn't there and brush it away, as always.

when daylight ends, the night falls in..sunset sunrise..
i really need a bright sunny morning to look forward to..
the part and parcel of life, why does it always have to be so hard..

well..i've been pretty busy with ams and everything else..and partly i was lazy as well :p

Small talk: i've just received my FOURTH invoice in ONE month from melb uni, reminding me to pay up this semester tuition fees which is due on 31st August. *sweat* no need so kua jiong eh.. -_-

There was a point in my life when i became all-emo and felt very sorry for myself..
I hated myself and i hated my life..
Whenever things don't go exactly the way i want, i started blaming everyone & everything but myself.. i would then think the world as being freaking unfair..
My regular thoughts were 'why ppl got this and i dun have', 'why do i always have to be the unlucky one', 'i dun like my this and that..' bla bla..
(yes, right now i feel i was such a horrible person then :p)

i went to clinic today..to be exact, paediatrics clinic..
and it really touched my heart when i see kids born with all sort of abnormalities or children suffering from a major illness at such a young age..
Being physically ill is one thing, but these childhood illnesses, most of them have an impact on the child emotionally and socially.. some even lasting for life!

i am so blessed. i am normal, i had a happy carefree childhood, i grew up in a healthy environment, surrounded by a loving family and wonderful friends. True enough, i had my ups and downs all these 21 years of life.. but i managed to stay healthy and disease-free. Just that is a blessing already.

if u know me well, u might realised i do complain quite alot..hahaha :p..
yes, i am still learning.. learning to appreciate and cherish all i have and to count my blessings everyday :) and yes yes, u all should do the same :p
and *ahem* if ur someone close to my heart, feel blessed cos i really do cherish our relationship/friendship very very very very very much :) and be blessed cos u'll always have me standing up for you...hahahhahha *eh don't cough and vomit la, this is from my heart wei* :p

anyway main point is: i am loving me, loving my life, loving everyone and everything that walked with me or left footsteps :)

i went to theatre today..

i witnessed my supervisor performed a colonic biopsy on a young boy who has slow transit constipation..

i dunno how to describe my feelings.. the experience was good though and yes, technology is such an amazing thing!!

finally, i'm getting the feel of AMS..
the best part of AMS: no exams!! woooooohoooooo :)

AMS flew by..

sigh how to describe??

my feelings so far is tat AMS is actually rather boring.. research is very very boring.. to me at least -_-

what i've done so far:
1. reading books and journals (which i dread dread dread!!)

2. do lab stuffs..sectioning, staining tissues, which is pretty interesting

3. lab meeting every tuesday

4. theatre on wednesdays

5. clinical meetings on fridays

6. lots of morning teas!! :) (the highlight of my ams i guess)

7. initial presentation of my project was last tues.. hehe

things i hope to do/get done in the coming weeks:
1. write up my project outline

2. read more journals.. *haizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*

3. go to clinic with my supervisor

omg!! i sound so organised.. but if u know me well enough, u might not think likewise :p

Day 2:
aha..when the fun begins!! today we were off to the first of the 3 theme parks we would be visiting.. SEAWORLD!! :) :)random photo-shooting (as usual) while waiting in-line to get the tickets

freaking expensive though!!!

Day 1:
Our flight from melb to GC was freaking early, 7am if i'm not mistaken.. had to wake up at 4.30am. And the fact tat we only slept at 2am the previous night, it's not surprising at all we looked like zombies in these pics here :p

Our first destination was Surfer's Paradise, tat's where we would be staying as well..

After settling in our apartments, we had lunch and *ahem* as always, we proceeded to have ice cream for dessert..

they dun look as big here but oh my, they were ENOURMOUS!!
i felt quite sick after mine in fact..keke

Shopping time at harbour town!! No pics cos i guess everyone was *ahem* frantically hunting for bargains and good buys before closing time at 6pm :p

and then yes, we got hungry again. Honestly, very..very..very..hungry (spent freaking long waiting for the bus back to Surfer's paradise + some minor drama on where-to-eat-without-waiting) Everyone was grumpy, tired & starving when we finally settled down at.....Billy Baxters!!

the food was excellent....simply deliciousssssssss..yum yum..especially zul's creamy mushroom steak *smile from ear to ear* (okie, i may have exaggerated a little cos our stomachs was basically dying to be filled up :p)
and hmm.. very sorry but pics of the food were blur and not very nice & i guess no one bother about taking pretty pics at tat moment?

when our stomachs were satisfied and at last stopped screaming, we had a walk to breathe in the night air before heading back to Zzzzzz....

it's amazing to see everyone in their own world in just one pic :p

if u've read my previous post about my plans this holiday, perhaps u might (i hope u do) be interested to know how far i have achieved these. :)

here they are once again + additional relevant stuffs :p

my plans this holiday:
1. pig..pig..pig!! i need to replenish my beauty sleep...even if it means sleeping 12 hours every day..*grin*-------> ah, i'm a such a winner in this..been sleeping an average of 10-12hours everyday so far..wakakka :)

2. hang out and see all the ppl i'm been missing and wanting to catch up.. *miss u all so much* -------> i managed to hang out wif a few ppl..but not yet everyone i wanted to hang out with..been somewhat lazy to go out due to the stupid freaking cold melb weather..but oh well, there's still half the break left i guess :p

3. going to gold coast 2th july wif my buddies from btu..*aha..temptation* =P -------> i'll be going there 2nd july..woohoo...beautiful sun & beach, i'm coming!!

4. michelle is coming to melb from adelaide..finally!! :) -------> yes, mich is coming..but only slightly after my break to be exact.

5. hopefully do some 'window shopping' only..hmm.. -------> ignore!! 眼不见为净.. *pretend i never wrote this* bleh..hahha.. food shopping too much this holiday..tsk tsk bad bad..i feel fat!! * as usual u slap me*

6. try to look for a job perhaps..i'm so broke!! *hence the window shopping only!* -------> well, i attempted..okie..half-heartedly..but i'm still trying!

7. watch drama & laze around.. -------> watch drama - hmm not as much as i tot i would have watched; laze around - not enough time to laze bcos i sleep too much..hehehe.. XD

8. once again, pig pig pig!! -------> did i said i sleep 10-12 hours everyday.. *eyes big big blink blink* In fact, i've been feeling pretty dumb and blur..ah, must be my neurons degenerating due to all the pigging..

ah..it's 12am..bed time!! *smile* i shall carry on with Plan 1 & 8 :p

i am such a pig..*stick out tougue*
i slept 12 hours in total yesterday...*yippies* :)

mum sms-ed shiyi at about 1pm, saying daddy was wondering why no one sms-ed/called him to wish him "happy father's day".. hahha...only then shiyi n i realised today is actually father's day..omg...and we didn't even send him a card whereas we got mummy one for mother's day... i'm sure daddy grumbled to mummy, "they got you a card, but they didn't even sms me"

anyway...we felt very very bad (it's true) and decided to call home...but we couldn't find the phone card!! (erm, it wasn't at its usual place, and we didn't really searched for it actually..heh heh..but we got hati k) :P So in the end, we missed call daddy and he had to called us instead!! (omg..we are so 不孝顺) *bite lips & feel very bad*
but then..heh heh..daddy's also very erm...(dunno how to say, shouldn't say bad things bout dad..XD) okie...i shall say, daddy wasn't any better..haha... last year, he bought shiyi & my bday cards...but never wrote them and gif them out to us...?!!!! *sweat* it's like sitting in his drawer for 7 months after our bday di...and everytime we asked him, he goes like, "aiya..i no time ah, no mood ah, lazy ah, busy ah $@&!!^@*@!*(@&#((&)^" *faint* and then my mum goes, 'by the time he actually sits down n write it..it will be your N bdays later di"...
nvm nvm...we shall wait for you daddy, just cos we heart you lots..hehe :)

i'm blogging again...
now i've blogged 3 days in a row...
erm...good or bad?? is having too much free time a bad thing? :p..somemoore it's like 2.38am now and i'm still online......die lar...my sleeping time all messed up di...everynite sleep at 3am get up at 12pm.. very bad for health you know :p

actually i dun have anything very interesting to blog about also...and since i very 'ta4 han3'..might as well la rite..hehhe... :)

today... me, li chia, eng kiat, ka lip, deva, vanis, chang yang, xuan ni, chong chyn & wei yong had sort of an outing together :) (finally...i did stuffs!!)
here's wat we did:

1. went to Tai Pan restaurant in doncaster for dim sum lunch.. eh, the place freaking far ler...luckily the food was quite good....if not...heh heh, we will all murder ek...haha... not to mention it was freaking cold as well.. and i got dizzy on the bus back to the city... -_-

2. spend ALOT of time deciding where to go after dim sum (as usual)...in the end, aha...we went to the Shrine of Remembrance...it's one of the tourist attractions in melbourne...but hmm..paise to say, today was actually my first time there even though i have been living in melb for 2 1/2 years...heh heh..

3. had starbucks coffee with li chia :) it was gooddddddd *smile from ear-to-ear*

i think i should try to go to bed now...hahha..good nite ppl~!! :)

i cannot tahan di...argh..
why like tat one...y my holiday so boring one.....*feel like choking someone* heh heh :p

apart from dfo and the party on monday nite..i haven't been doing anything interesting at all...seriously...i bored till can die di...bleh..
and when i'm bored, i binge and get really REALLY lazy = gain weight faster...

it's like so freaking cold today...my hands are like frozen till i can't even type properly di.. -_-
skin peeling as well....*sien*.....cold weather adding to my laziness and dun-wan-to-move-around (which also) = gain weight faster...haiz

not to forget i become freaking flushed wif cold weather...stupid one...i tot ur peripheral blood vessels are suppose to vasoconstrict when ur cold....wat the...maybe my skin is too thin or i just have much more blood vessels than normal ppl.. but then, why my hands and feet forever so cold one... *big questions marks floating over my head*

i know i sound crappy...but that's cos i'm feeling really crappy right now... *glare at you*...
and don't even tell me , "walao, fat where la you..kick kick slap slap".. cos believe me, i have already gained weight and i'm really good at hiding my 'a-bit-of-fat'...hahha...but not to worry, i still binge and have no intention yet to do any slimming regime and yes, i know I AM NOT FAT..i just dun like gaining weight k... cos it's a real comfort for me when i know tat i have more space to gain extra weight...hahha :)

bottomline is i so feel like bullying someone now....heh heh...*u can volunteer if u wan to* :p

i've just finish my preclinical years = boring lectures & tuts in uni.. :)

it will a totally new experience next semester..
i'll doing AMS reseach at Royal Children's Hospital...
don't really know wat to expect and how it'll eventually turn out..
but i guess life needs some 转角 at times..
hopefully the coming year will end up being one of the most vibrant pages in the book of my life :)

today is ka lip's 20th bday....kekke...happy birthday ka lip!!
and tomorrow is li chia's 22th bday...happy birthday dearie..*huggies*...

anyway, we celebrated both their bdays di on thurs..but i haven't leech the pics from ppl yet..haha..so i shall blog bout the bday dinner another time.. XD..
well...pics can currently be viewed at jian wey's blog though...but the pics he put of me there very ugly..hahha..

ahem...li chia & i went insane last nite...we spontaneously decided to have cakes at greco's at 11pm ++...ahahha..walao, seriously damn impulsive...=) So she traveled all the way from elgin st. down to crown's and then we had 'supper'...we ate greco's coffee tiramisu cake..which was..erm...okay only lar...haha....i prefer the choc cheesecake...and we also tried one of their dessert cocktail...hmm...blueberry *something*...dun remember di...it was pretty good!!

since it was already past midnight by the time we were done eating, li chia camped at my place...hahha..well, being bersampat as usual....we bersampat bout other ppl lar!!..ahha..dun wan to gif too much details here...hahha..anyway dun really remember wat we bersampat also cos it was really late then....think we slept at like 4am...and tat was after i forced her to go to bed...walao..she crazy one lar...freaking energetic and dun wan to sleep..*sweat*..-_-

anyway, the main point is we act as though we have no exam worries and we are on holidays..haha...crazy + impulsive..but i have to say, we have a great time!! =) even though i had to sacrifice my lovely sleeping time and hence, i'm still pretty dead now...bleh.. it's fun to do crazy things once a while...to reflects that we are normal..ahhaa..*wat is this i am saying, dosen't really make sense* *???*

sigh..it's a depressing weekend..stupid test on monday *groan*..need to cover 20++ lectures + prac notes..and i'm not even exactly halfway thru..i'm starting to dislike med, med is suffocating me...grr..

my end of sem exam will be from 5th-8th june..wow, 4 papers, 4 days straight!! good & bad..be freaking stressed+hot-tempered for 2 wks (exam week + swot vac) and then bermain secukup-cukupnya for 1 month....*yippies!!*

fri - went for dinner with su min, melissa & khai li at a chinese restaurant near's mel & kl apartment..food was not bad but ordinary..and we crapped & gossiped a lot..hehehe..
then su min & i went to max brenner for hot choc (supposedly for hot choc only!)...but su min got tempted by gorgeous-looking waffles..(weird description) so we ended up sharing a banana waffles..(well, su min blamed her temptations on hormones =pPP haha) but then the banana was cold instead of hot and they gave us too little choc...*sien*

sat - try to cramp in as much lectures as possible into my tiny-mini brain but oh well, slept too much!! was suppose to nap for 1 hour but pigged for 3 hours instead!!...worse, i only got up cos daniel called me...wat lar..die liao die liao..

sun - oh well, currently i really SHOULD be studying..but here i am, blogging!! *ahem* see how i waste my time procrastinating and yet complaining of not enough time...haizzzzzzzz..long day ahead..pray for me ppl...=)

helo there..my 2 lovable sampat darlings..=) wahahhha..

it's been really wonderful to catch up wif both of u on monday..haha..realised we haven't been talking like this for so long di...*wink*.. made me think back of our precious memories back in smk bintulu..i really miss those stress free and great moments we 'dwarfs' had together..

but happy to say, we are still as sampat, as vain, as 'pricky' as before...hahhha...and i'm really glad that our miraculous friendship is still going strong..and will also be =) me looking forward for sat ler..hehhe...and of cos, pearly...looking forward to seeing u in june..wahahha...eh must bring me pressies from msia u know..if not...hehehe *evil grin*..

realised i haven't been blogging for a while...
it's bcos my life is so dull & colourless at the moment and i have no idea wat to blog about -_-

5 things about my 2nd GP placement last thurs:
1. extremely boring, did not do anything interesting..sighhhhhhhhh
2. more antenatal patients
3. GP made us lunch again! (this is the highlight of the day..so u get how boring it is)
4. listened to a baby's heart beat
5. felt so sleepy cos it was so boring..duh..

5 things i did during the weekend:
1. Sleep & sleep & sleep...
2. Eat..esp. lots of nuts..hehe
3. Church
4. Clean the bathroom
5. Day dreaming

it's week 10 already!! omg...exams are near........arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *more screams* i keep telling myself to study..but then..ah u know me...*enourmous sigh*

aha..finally i have the energy to actually blog about my mornington trip last saturday...was soooo tired last weekend and trying to sort things out throughout the week..totally ignored my blog..bleh..but since i'm still pretty lazy, i shall let the pictures speak of words..hehe..

i love the strawberry farm...2 dollars entrance fees + 6 dollars for 1/2 kg of strawberries..
they are so sweet + juicy + yummy that i ate them ALL before leaving the farm..even though i was feeling bloated from the amount of water half way thru...hehe..
note: i only picked really big & red ones (kiasu..=P)

i ate their award-winning strawberry ice cream as well...omg, it was so good tat i was in cloud nine *drooling now* haha..

we didn't visit the choc factory in the end..
we went a maze instead...though i personally would have love the choc factory bcos i'm a pig..
there's this garden there as well wif life-sized board games, eg: chess, snakes & ladders etc..we spent 4 hours++ in mornington and arrived in the city at arounr 6:30pm..i had my cell group meeting later and had supper wif friends at 11:00pm..so by the time i finally got home it was 1am...-_-....so dead, so sleepy..i left my home in the morning at 8am...a nice start for the easter break though..=P

my hair issue & others

april - the 2nd month of autumn..hmm..time's a breeze..
i like autumn..not too cold not too warm.. =)

lately..my hair has been annoying me quite a bit..okay..alot actually..grr..
i cut in last december to about shoulder length and now it has grown till the 'half long half short' length which is so unmanageable..esp in the morning when i'm always out of bed late and rushing for classes..it's so annoying!! *screams* i miss my long, straight hair last year...so easy to manage..basically just comb it thru, and yes, i'm all done to leave the house =P

another thing..i wan my hair to be thicker!!..it's so thin..and i feel tat it falls out quite a lot..*worried look* i seriously can't take the horror of walking up wif a bald head..*omg..faints*

i feel stupid today..went to prac wif my thick heavy prac file, complaining bout it's weight but absent-mindedly left my prac notes at home...had to end up spending extra money photocopying them..sien..this is one of the moments when i wonder why is my head so big..*tsk tsk goyang kepala*

been binge eating alot on junkfood for the past 2 weeks...at nite somemore...erm..it feels like i'm pregnant..cos i have the craves so often...hahhhha...

tomorrow is the last day of uni before easter break..should be happy but then i feel so lazy..haha..going to mornington for a day trip on sat..strawberry farm & chocolate factory..sounds yummy rite..hehe...

i miss mummy so much.

my 1st GP placement =)

i had my GP placement at Dandenong yesterday.. As i live in the city, Dandenong is freaking far for me...need to tram to Southern Cross station, train to Dandenong station, take a bus to Dandenong Hospital and walk to the clinic...the whole journey would take nearly 2 hrs.......*enourmous sigh*
But that i had some luck *wink*.. i live pretty near to Southern Cross station and my placement partner, Sudha offered to pick me up from Dandenong station...so i saved bout 45 mins...hahha..

When we first arrived, we were told to wait in a room until a 'suitable' patient was available...We were quite persimistic bout it.. Sudha was telling me tat her friend actually did really interesting stuffs at her placement, ie: giving flu vaccine, suturing a wound etc. and we were like, "What does she means by a suitable patient?"

We waited for about 20 mins i think..=)..we went thru a few physical exams with each other and did blood pressure taking...and then aha..our GP finally let us into her counsulting room..We saw 2 antenatal patients, we got to take the BP and weight of one of them.. and then, our GP decided to take us to some nursing homes nearby since we didn't have any patients at that time..

The first home is of high-grade care. We visited this lady, who's demented and recently been identified as being slightly diabetic. She was nice but she couldn't remember us after a few mins..-_- The whole atmosphere was pretty depressing i would say...and there's this old man there who keeps making weird noises...and another old lady asking him to shut up...hmm..

The 2nd home was much better...the residents there are more independant & would readily have a chat wif us..Our GP took off sutures for an elderly gentleman who had his 95th yesterday..and omg, i would have only guess he was 70-ish.. He was a cheeky old man though...hehhe..he said he wanted to marry Sudha cos he thinks she'll be a wealthy women in the future...wahahhhaha..interesting...

We then headed back to the clinic and had lunch...ahahha...our GP actually MADE us lunch all the way from her home...weeeeeeeee.. the food was good... somemore it was almost 3pm and i was starving.. For the rest of the evening, we saw a patient who had schizophrenia, a teenage gal who had bone & joint pains bcos she barely has vitamin D in her diet, and another antenatal patient. We got to watch some echocardiograms as well.. though i couldn't actually make out most of the stuffs we were seeing...the only things i could tell were the valves and the atria and ventricles...hahha...but it was interesting nonetheless..

Finally, we left at about 6pm...It was raining then and freaking cold..
I reached home at 7:15pm and i was dead tired by then...
So i slept at a really early 9pm and as u would have guess, i just wowke up an hour ago..10am..aahhahha...a good 13 hours sleep.....omg!!

yesterday was the last nite of the moomba waterfest...
so we went to watch the fireworks at 9.30pm..
it was magnificent and lasted for bout 10 mins...hahha...i had a good view, but boon shih who was standing behind me, was 'chased away' by some rude ppl who said he's blocking the view cos he's too tall...bleh...surprisingly, he actually listened n went away without telling me...and so i ended up talking to air until i realised he wasn't there bcos he never responded...bleh..

i might post pictures of the firework later if i get good picture =)

we later went for deserts at greco's at crown...
su min, li chia and i shared a mud cake and a chocolate cheese cake...
it was REALLY YUMMY...ahahha..enjoyed it..*smile smile*
but forgotten to take pics..duh

but then we finally remembered to take a few pics just before everyone left for home..hehe..
and this week...after a traumatising monday test...i shall chill n procrastinate (so says li chia)..haha..

woohoo..love is in the air.. =)
unfortunately, for singles in melb like us, there's no chance of celebrating this 'love-ly' day wif nice-smelling roses and plush dinner at exotic restaurants..hence, we decided to be romantic at the vic mart summer night market..=) and of cos, we were there for our common love of our lives, ie. FOOD..and yes, the one and only FOOD..(*this is esp. directed to jian wey who didn't wan to tag along cos he THOUGHT that li chia and i would have our eyes on accessories only..bleh)

i dunno why i'm feeling blue today..in fact, i should be happy, had been out shopping in the city with my darling sis..though all we bought we was groceries and a little 'tingy-wingy' here and there..it was great to finally leave my apartment for a while..

maybe it's bcos we are starting sem5 soon..though i very much longed to see my med friends after a 2 month break, somehow i dread the idea of having to wake up early for classes and to bury my nose in notes and books till the wee hours of the night..yes, i feel very depressed now...=(

anyway, me and my sis decided to bersampat and go take pics at the yarra river near crown's..(note: i'm staying at southbank, a mere 5minutes walk to one of melb's liveliest place at nite). it was breezy and packed with ppl, and there were red lanterns hanging above us...sigh..cny..2nd time i won't be celebrating at home..=( sigh...another added blue..

oh rite..i'm blue and tired..should stop thinking so much and get to bed...sighhhh..

sweet and sour chicken

Though food is heaven for me, i never really enjoyed cooking, partly bcos i dun seem to have the talent for it..well, my cooking is eatible..but not mouth-watering enough to have the 'omg-i-must-really-try-this' feel..

anyway, i was forced to make friends with all my kitchenwares ever since mum moved home from melb..the idea of having to cook every dinner meal seemed terrifying, but surprisingly i wasn't very much worried..hmm..oh well, if my kitchen buddies decide to be unopperative, i always have my 'readily cooked microwave-food' pals ready to save the day.

okies..i'll stop all this crap and get back to the main point..=)
my 1st attempt at cooking sweet and sour chicken was last Sunday..overall rating: okay only lar..
the chicken was overfried (well, i tot they needed a lot more time cos it took ages for my fried chicken wings to turn from red to completely white and safe for consuming).
but...the sauce was pretty good...oh well, i actually use the sauce out from a packet..=)

2nd attempt was today..
rating: great..*hehehehe*..=)
the chicken was just right...actually, it was really yummy...
haha...kind of proud of myself actually..
hmm..maybe i do have a talent for cooking afterall...(nay, it's most likely me thinking too highly of myself)
but anyway...one thing's for sure..Practice makes perfect!! ehhehe...*i hear sounds of ppl fainting* =P
